cultivate vitality and awareness

Qigong and Neigong training grounded in classical Daoist practice—
uniting body, breath, and consciousness as a living path of self-cultivation.

Introduction

A man in a black t-shirt and gray shorts standing on a stone pathway in a lush garden with trees, rocks, and a small pond.

At Daoist Arts of Oregon, our mission is to support health, longevity, and inner development through the classical Daoist internal arts of Qigong, Neigong, and meditative cultivation.

Our teaching emphasizes the integration of body, breath, and awareness. Through consistent practice, students refine the flow of vital energy (Qi), restore balance within the body, and quiet the activity of the conditioned mind. Over time, this work supports recovery from illness and injury, softens habitual patterns, and cultivates clarity, stability, and inner stillness.

While Qigong has become more familiar in the West, authentic transmission of the deeper internal arts remains rare. Our instruction is rooted in classical teachings developed through years of dedicated practice. These methods are offered in a way that is accessible and meaningful, while preserving the integrity of the tradition.

We approach the internal arts as a lifelong path of cultivation rather than a destination. Many students experience greater ease, energy, and presence early in their training, but the deeper process unfolds gradually through sustained practice. This path requires patience, consistency, and sincerity.

We welcome individuals from all backgrounds. No prior experience is necessary, and practices can be adapted to support a wide range of physical conditions and abilities.

Those who feel called to explore this work are invited to step onto the path.

The Living Path

At Daoist Arts of Oregon, we explore the internal arts of 氣功 Qigong and 內功 Neigong — systems of Daoist cultivation that harmonize movement, breath, and awareness.‍ ‍

These practices refine the relationship between the internal landscape of body and mind and the wider rhythm of nature.

Daoist cultivation rests upon two intertwined principles: 性 Xing and 命 Ming — the refinement of consciousness and the nourishment of vital force.

Together they form the foundation of authentic transformation: health, clarity, and presence unfolding as one.

Our Mission

To unite body, breath, and consciousness into a living path of cultivation—
nourishing health, clarity, and harmony within ourselves, our communities, and the natural world.

Daoist Arts of Oregon is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and transmission of classical Daoist internal arts.

We welcome individuals from all backgrounds and levels of experience.
Those drawn to a steady and thoughtful practice are invited to take the first step.

The Guiding Virtues

The Daoist path matures through four living virtues:

Humility (謙) — Openness to learn from each moment.
Kindness (仁) — Warmth that connects and heals.
Simplicity (樸) — Clarity born of letting go.
Humor (樂) — Lightness that dissolves rigidity and renews joy.

These qualities sustain both practice and daily life, grounding inner cultivation in human connection.

The Practice

Qigong (氣功)

Gentle movement, standing postures, and mindful breathing circulate energy and unify body and mind. Practitioners enter with simple preparation, move in awareness, and emerge calm, energized, and clear.

Neigong (內功)

The art of inner cultivation — standing and seated meditation that refines perception and energetic stability. Through alignment and breath, stillness becomes vivid and the boundary between body and consciousness softens.

Neigong & Qigong — Internal Training

Qigong develops movement and circulation; Neigong refines stillness and internal awareness.

Saturday classes integrate Qigong and Neigong, focusing on the building and circulation of Qi, refinement of structure, and cultivation of internal stability.

Open to anyone drawn to serious study of the internal arts, within a light, curious, and supportive community.

Applied Daoist Arts

Treatment at Daoist Arts of Oregon applies refined awareness and classical energetic methods to support balance, clarity, and systemic integration. Each session helps the body and mind return to their original, organized state.

Together, these create a reliable path of energetic restoration.

Long-Distance Treatments

Supporting reorganization, restoration, and internal balance through Daoist energetic practice.

Long-distance treatments guide the body and mind into a state of deep organization — sometimes referred to as the original state — where natural rebalancing and recovery can occur.

Individual sessions include consultation, treatment, and follow-up, providing dedicated time for restoration and renewal.

Group sessions are offered weekly, generating a shared energetic field that supports both personal and collective well-being.

Yi Jing Consultations

The Yi Jing (易經), or Book of Changes, offers insight into the underlying patterns shaping life’s transitions and decisions.

Rather than predicting fixed outcomes, consultations clarify the dynamics of change, supporting clearer timing, balance, and response.

Blessings

Daoist Blessings are acts of awareness and energetic alignment — not just symbolic rituals.

Through cultivated perception, the practitioner evaluates and guides Qi (氣) — within individuals, homes, and places of work — establishing the underlying energetic conditions that support balance, protection, and meaningful change.

In this way, the work relates to the principles often associated with Feng Shui, addressing not only form, but the deeper field that shapes experience.

Each blessing harmonizes Heaven, Earth, and Human intention, creating the conditions for transformation and renewal.

A Shared Path

Together, Stephen and Mary founded Daoist Arts of Oregon as a place for steady learning, meaningful practice, and renewal. Their shared path brings together Classical Chinese Medicine, internal cultivation, and thoughtful education within a single framework of clear and consistent training.

The purpose of Daoist Arts of Oregon is to preserve the clarity of traditional Daoist teachings while presenting them in a form that supports the realities of modern life.

Every program — from weekly Neigong practice to seasonal retreats, long-distance treatments, and online study — reflects this commitment: to provide authentic instruction, careful guidance, and space for genuine development.
